President George H. W. Bush, State Of The Union Address: “We have within our reach the promise of renewed America. We can find meaning and reward by serving some purpose higher than ourselves—a shining purpose, the illumination of a thousand points of light. It is expressed by all who know the irresistible force of a child’s hand, of a friend who stands by you and stays there a volunteer’s generous gesture, an idea that is simply right.” Regardless of your political affiliation, we all have to appreciate the commitment behind this statement. The Academy at the Farm is presently developing the budget for next year. We intend to continue to serve our children with the same quality of education that we have demonstrated in the past. We also hope to explore the possibility of offering a separate reading course to all Middle School children and adding a part time ESEteacher to serve our students with special needs. Needless to say this takes commitment and dedication by faculty, staff, and parents. But it also takes funding.Due to financial situations that have impacted the Academy’s budget this year and potentially will affect nextyear's budget, there is a need to seriously read and believe in the quote by President H. W. Bush. The Academy is promoting a “Thousand Points of Light” Program. The points of light are dollars. We are asking friends and supporters to join this campaign with the love and commitment they have demonstrated over the past months and years. We are looking for 100 individuals, couples, families, friends, clubs, and/or organizations to become one of the 100 sponsors of a “Thousand Points of Light (dollars).” Join my wife (Lucile) and I by signing up as one of the 100 leaders to donate and/or coordinate the raising of $1,000 each. This commitment/pledge by May 1, 2007 will allow the Academy to propose a budget that will allow us to continue our present level of service to our children and afford the improvements to serve them even better. Because of the unique causes of these unexpected expenditures this year, we do not anticipatethat this shortage will continue beyond this unfortunate situation.
